Simpson Parents Divorce: Parents of Singers Jessica and Ashlee Officially Split

After 34 years, it's officially over for the parents of pop stars Jessica Simpson and Ashlee Simpson now that a judge has finalized their divorce.

Tina Simpson filed for divorce from Joe Simpson in October citing "discord or conflict of personalities," and reports surfaced Thursday that their split has been finalized.

"It's an amicable split and there is no third party involved. Any other related allegations are completely false," a family rep told People magazine last fall.

As for her parents' divorce, Jessica, a source told People in October, is "sad, but she's okay. She's going on with everything."

Tina and Joe Simpson are also pop star Ashlee Simpson's parents.

Joe Simpson, a former minister, and Tina, a manager, wed in Texas in 1978. There have been rumors swirling about their divorce since last fall, with many media outlets claiming the marriage fell apart when Joe Simpson came out as gay and admitted to having an affair with a male model. He has spoken out adamantly against the reports, calling them "ridiculous."

The pair has been bickering over details of the divorce since last fall. Joe Simpson reportedly wanted to move the divorce case to California from Texas, because he believed a Los Angeles judge would look more favorably on his past indiscretions, including his DUI last year, according to RadarOnline.

Then Joe Simpson reportedly turned down Tina's offer of $100 million of her $300 million fortune, because he believed he was entitled to more of the money, which stems from their daughter Jessica's clothing line, The Jessica Simpson Collection, that Tina manages.

But, in the end, the Simpsons were able to finally reach an agreement. As part of the divorce, Tina Simpson agreed to a 50 percent split of their fortune and assets, including the multi-million dollar fashion line she manages for Jessica, a source revealed to RadarOnline.
