When a girl who was paralyzed stood and walked, a nurse screamed in joy and threw her arms around her patient, and the video of her heartfelt reaction has gone viral with more than 3.5 million hits.
Bailey Murrill, 17, of Denton, Texas, became
paralyzed, losing all feeling below her waist, The Daily mail said, and doctors couldn’t find a cause for her condition.
She was hospitalized, and after 11 days, began to get feeling back in her feet and legs. The Daily Mail said Murrill’s favorite nurse was coming onto her shift, so she decided to surprise her. Murrill’s mother recorded the incident.
As the nurse approached Murrill, who was sitting in a wheelchair, with her arms open as if to hug her, Murrill stood up and the screaming began. The nurse hugged her and screamed, “Thank you, Lord,” her joyful reaction evident.
Many people responded positively to the nurse’s loving manner with Murrill.
“That is the reaction of a woman who has given too much, for too few victories. Bless our health workers,”
one person wrote on YouTube.
“If I ever go to the hospital, I want her as my nurse,” another shared.
Murrill told the New York Daily News that she was goofing around with her dad when she landed awkwardly on her back, and lost feeling in her legs.
In the hospital, Murrill said she bonded with the nurse, who has not been identified, over their faith in God.
“The whole time I had this attitude I would leave it in his hands and be prepared for what he decided,” she said. When feeling started to return in her legs, Murrill decided to surprise her favorite nurse.
“She had brought me so much joy at a time I needed it that I decided to bring her some,” she told the News.
"I'm so happy for you. I'm sooo happy for you," the nurse said in the video. "See there, I told you. Just keep the faith."
