A two-story home outside Eagle Point, Oregon, caught fire twice in one day Wednesday, sustaining major damage.

Witnesses saw flames and thick smoke around 11:10 a.m. at the Craiglea Drive home and called 911, according to the Mail Tribune. Firefighters responded and had the fire knocked down by about 12:30 p.m.

Although the initial fire had spread to both floors, some items on the top floor were salvaged after the fire was brought under control, and investigators were looking for the cause of the first fire around 5 p.m. when they saw flames again and called fire personnel back to the scene, the Mail Tribune reported.

No one was injured in either fire, and two adults and two dogs got out safely from the initial fire. The Red Cross is assisting four adults and one child who lived in the home, the Tribune reported.

District 3 spokeswoman Ashley Lara said it wasn’t clear why the fire had flared up again, but that dry weather and heat might have played a role, the Tribune reported. “These types of fires can spread to the wildlands,” Lara said. “It’s definitely not what we want.”

Five thousand gallons of water were trucked to the rural south Oregon home to put out the fires.
