Kanye West shocked the crowd at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night by announcing his intentions to run for president in 2020 in a long, rambling and, at times, incoherent acceptance speech.
In a move that would make Kim Kardashian first lady and Kris and Caitlyn Jenner White House babysitters to North West, the music and fashion mogul fit in his political ambitions into his nearly 13-minute speech acceptance speech for the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, a sort-of lifetime achievement award.
"I have decided in 2020 to run for president," West said at the end of his rambling remarks, bringing cheers from the MTV crowd in attendance.
Host Miley Cyrus then showed support for West and current Republican presidential front runner Donald Trump after the rapper's speech.
"You got to bring politics to this kind of show," Cyrus said. "Trump, you had my vote. But now, Kanye West for president!"
West may have gotten the political bug earlier this month at a Los Angeles fundraiser for Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton where he and his wife managed to squeeze in a selfie while the GOP candidates sparred with each other in their
first debate in Cleveland, according to The Hill.
Judging from the comments on social media, West will face a tough electorate in 2020.
