A new Barbie honoring American Olympian Ibtihaj Muhammad is the first Barbie to wear a hijab.

Mattel announced the Barbie in Muhammad’s honor at Monday’s Glamour Women of the Year Summit, where she was made part of the "Barbie Shero" program honoring females who pioneered and innovated in their fields.

The doll features a fencing uniform with helmet and sword and shows Muhammad wearing a hijab as she did during her Olympic competition; she was the first Muslim-American woman to do so.

Muhammed won a bronze medal in women’s team foil during the 2016 Olympics. She later started a modest fashion clothing line called Louella.

“Ibtihaj is an inspiration to countless girls who never saw themselves represented, and by honoring her story, we hope this doll reminds them that they can be and do anything,” Barbie Vice President of Global Marketing Sejal Shah said in a statement on the Barbie website.

“Through playing with Barbie, I was able to imagine and dream about who I could become,” Muhammad said in the statement. “I love that my relationship with Barbie has come full circle, and now I have my own doll wearing a hijab that the next generation of girls can use to play out their own dreams.”

Previous Barbie Shero honorees include dancer Misty Copeland, actress Kristin Chenoweth, director Ava DuVernay, and model and body activist Ashley Graham.

“Ibtihaj Muhammad has challenged every stereotype — which to me is the definition of a modern American woman,” Glamour Editor-in-Chief Cindi Leive said in the statement.
