It wouldn't be the first time "Arrow" has made ties within the DC Comics universe, having referenced the League of Assassins and Ra’s al Ghul (although he's never appeared), the Flash, and the Huntress, among others. But Harley Quinn's voice slipping into the scene this week gave fans hopes of stronger ties, especially those hoping Batman will make an appearance.
The Harley Quinn comics are currently selling well, hitting the
Top 10 in bestselling comics, Comic Book Resources said, so it would only help the show to tap into some of that popularity.
Executive producer Marc Guggenheim said that he was “completely unprepared” for all the rumors that exploded over the possibility of Harley Quinn entering the show.
“I want to manage expectations with respect to Harley Quinn,” Guggenheim told Collider. “She was always intended to be an Easter egg. I don’t want people to go in with incorrect expectations and walk away from Episode 16 disappointed. But there is an element to the Easter egg that was not spoiled by the promo, that I think people will find a lot of fun.”
Fans liked the idea of Quinn joining up with “Arrow.”
