Hillary Clinton had a lucrative hugfest with Kim Kardashian, Kanye West and other celebrities in Los Angeles on Thursday night while the Republican presidential candidates were debating the issues in Cleveland.
Clinton, the front-running Democratic candidate for president, attended a fund raiser in ritzy Brentwood at the home of Justin Bieber's manager Scooter Braun,
according to Variety.
The former first lady and secretary of state appeared in a photo on Instagram with the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" matriarch Kris Jenner while Kim Kardashian posted on Twitter that she hoped to take a selfie with "our next president."
Kardashian posted later that she did get her selfie with Clinton.
Variety said the $2,700-per-person fund raiser was also attended by Kim Kardashian's husband, rapper Kanye West, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Jessica Alba and Cash Warren, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Usher, Jason Collins and Mary Steenburgen.
Political supporters appearing at Braun's home were Los Angeles district attorney Jackie Lacey, U.S. Rep. Tony Cardenas and U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters.
"Clinton's fundraiser Thursday came as she made a taped cameo on Jon Stewart's final night hosting 'The Daily Show' and as Donald Trump, Jeb Bush and the other top candidates aspiring to be her GOP rival in the 2016 presidential race squared off on Fox News in their first debate,"
wrote Dominic Patten of Deadline.com.
Deadline.com said Clinton had already made $3 million at a May 7 trip to Los Angeles that featured many celebrities and another $1 million during another Hollywood swing on June 19.
The Republican debate, though, did not appear to be far from Clinton's mind as she issued a fund raising tweet late Thursday.
