Florida has long been a haven for retirees thanks to the climate, the tax perks, the amenities and, perhaps most importantly, the wide selection of communities specifically designed for older Americans.
They don't call it the Sunshine State for nothing. Florida's semi-tropical climate is a big draw for retirees looking to keep up an active adult lifestyle all year round.
The state is also considered one of the top 10 tax-friendly
destinations for retirees, according to Kiplinger. Not only is there no personal income tax (that includes pensions and other retirement-related income), but there is also no levy on Social Security benefits. Not to mention, property taxes are relatively low as compared to the rest of the country.

Florida and, in particular, active adult retirement communities also offer a host of amenities, from golf courses and luxury dining to pools and beaches. Newsmax compiled this list based on resident reviews, available amenities, size of community, and online reputation. Since everyone’s needs and wants will vary, we suggest this as a starting point for a search, obviously not a final say.
Here, Newsmax offers a look at 50 of the top active adult retirement communities in Florida, including details on location, number of homes, and
