Bobbi Kristina Brown, 22, the daughter of the late Whitney Houston, died in hospice care on Sunday, nearly six months after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub at her Georgia home.
Brown's death was eerily similar to that of her mother, the award-winning singer who was found unconscious in a hotel bathtub on Feb. 11, 2012, the night before the Grammy Awards,
noted People magazine.
"Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away July 26, 2015, surrounded by her family," Houston's family announced in a statement. "She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months."
Her father, entertainer Bobby Brown, and aunt Pat Houston had been acting as her co-guardians at the time of her death,
according to TMZ, and the Brown and Houston families had been at loggerheads over Bobbi Kristina's condition and hospitalization for most of the ordeal. Pat Houston seemed a more stabilizing influence during the long ordeal.
A tribute for Bobbi Kristina Brown's death was posted on Whitney Houston's Facebook page on Sunday.
Bobbi Kristina never fully recovered after being found on Jan. 31 on Jan. 31 at her home in Roswell by boyfriend Nick Gordon, who was once described as her husband,
according to Us Weekly. Gordon was banished from hospitals where she was being treated and hospice by both families and
a suit filed by Bobbi Kristina's conservator claimed he abused and fleeced her.
Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown were married for 14 years, a marriage described as "tumultuous" before the couple finalized their divorced in 2007. Houston, one of the most popular entertainers in the 1980s and 1990s, won seven Grammys and sold more than 200 million albums before her death.
People reported that Houston died from accidental drowning. Her toxicology report revealed she had cocaine, marijuana, Xanax, Benadryl and other medication in her system at the time of her death.
