In recent days, the call has gone out for reinforcements at Campo, California, to support Jim Chase's California Minutemen, who are deployed for border observation and reporting activities at Campo.

The invaders are becoming increasingly arrogant, damaging signs and property. The Minutemen were accompanied by a California State senator and his aides, who took note of the hostilities and violence conducted by the Nazi-like anarchistic brown berets.

The rampage at Campo was orchestrated by a professor of hate, Armando Navarro, who holds a comfortable taxpayer-funded tenured position at the University of California, Riverside. Professor Navarro has devoted his life to promoting the Mexican conquest of our seven southwestern states. He calls for this "conquest" to be carried out by force if necessary. Navarro's band of hoodlums appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

A California Minutemen volunteer, Jim Woods, was physically assaulted by a gang of ten of Navarro's thugs as he sat in his car at a border outpost. Woods says, "They threatened to kill me, stole the keys from the ignition, left me stranded without food or water."

When gang members were identified, the sheriff's department refused to arrest them and took no action. One sheriff's deputy, responding to Woods' plea for help, was told, "Oh, you just lost your keys."

Navarro's anarchists attempted to shut down and trash the VFW lodge and bring down the U.S. flag.

My fellow former Marine, James Gilchrist, needs your help at Campo on the border. He says two Minutemen groups from Texas are committed to arrive this week and he's requesting reinforcements from Chris Simcox's Minuteman Civil Defense Corps in Tombstone, Arizona, and others who operate under The Minuteman Project.

Mind you, these calls for help are going out within the U.S. on the part of patriots attempting to thwart the invasion by illegal aliens who are determined to destroy the sovereignty of our nation.

However, there are positive moments. Example: California's attorney general has issued an official title and summary for the California Border Police Initiative, clearing the way for signature-gathering to begin. The legislative author, California Assemblyman Ray Haynes, says there is overwhelming public support for the initiative, which would give California its own border police. Similar legislative initiatives are being put forward in other states across the nation.

A preponderance of Americans agree that illegal immigration is out of hand, that our borders are porous, and that our national security is being all but ignored by our federal government. As we go to press, a Cato-sponsored report calls for the immediate deployment of 50,000 troops on the border.

And there is additional legislation introduced by Senators John Cornyn, R-Texas, and John Kyl, R-Ariz., offering a number of enforcement provisions that, if implemented and enforced, would discourage employers from hiring illegal aliens and eliminate many of the job opportunities that draw people to this country illegally.

No doubt about it, "Minuteman Mania" is spreading. Americans are speaking up and saying, "WE'VE HAD ENOUGH!"
