Gov. Walker Predicts: We Will Beat Big Labor’s Recall

By    |   Sunday, 22 April 2012 06:31 PM

Gov. Scott Walker tells Newsmax that despite the outside money flooding into Wisconsin, he’s confident that he and his fellow Republicans will prevail in his state’s looming recall election.

The optimistic Walker went out on a limb and predicted victory.

In his exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV, Walker repeatedly used the phrase “when we win” to refer to the upcoming recall. Recent polls show him with a narrow advantage over both of his likely Democratic opponents.

Walker cautioned however that Republicans must guard against growing complacent in the race.

The Wisconsin governor added that a victory for conservatives in Wisconsin would give a boost to other governors nationwide who face difficult budget choices.

“The left, the radical left, and the big labor union bosses are somehow counting on the idea that they can bring enough money and enough bodies into Wisconsin to dissuade voters,” Walker told Newsmax. “... I think that they’re hoping somehow they can defeat us, so that would discourage anybody from making tough decisions again.

“And like I said, I’m an optimist. I think we’ll win, and I think when we do, it will open the door to people being more courageous,” said Walker.

The embattled Wisconsin governor has estimated that unions and special-interest groups may pour as much as $60 million into their controversial attempt to send his administration packing.

Walker said his campaign expects pro-union groups to spend tens of millions of dollars in negative advertising in a late blitz leading up to the June 5 recall election.
