New Super PAC Aims to Defend Ryan Against Distortions

By    |   Monday, 13 August 2012 01:36 PM EDT

A new super PAC is being launched to defend Mitt Romney’s running mate Paul Ryan against distortions made by liberals trying to paint him as a fanatic, Breitbart.com reported.

Writing in a column for the website, Liberty University professor Ken Klukowski said liberals will try to use Ryan to scare swing voters, “just like they did to Governor Sarah Palin.”

To guard against this, former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell will chair the new super PAC, called Defend Paul Ryan, “to get out the truth about Paul Ryan and aggressively refute any smear-attacks from President Obama’s supporters,” Klukowski wrote.

Klukowski said the “conservative truth squad” will likely focus on Ryan being a constitutional conservative and “a next-generation leader of supply-side economics, firmly understanding that liberating free-market forces and increasing the amount of money in the economy that private individuals and organizations can invest and direct maximizes growth and prosperity.”

Blackwell, who also serves with the Club for Growth and the Family Research Council, said, “Paul Ryan is a great fusion candidate for the three legs of the Reagan coalition. You can’t balance the budget or reform entitlements if you have too many families dependent on government support. And you can’t have the best military and security apparatus in the world unless you have a vibrant economy to fully fund current needs while also investing in future needs. He gets it, and he’s able to explain it to the average citizen with clarity and eloquence.”
