Fox News poll shows Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders beating every Republican left in the race.
The democratic socialist Sanders is running for president as a Democrat, but is currently trailing former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the party's nod.
But he is gaining on Clinton, according to the poll, and should he secure the nomination and voter sympathies remain as they are today, the Fox poll shows Sanders would beat anyone the Republicans put up against him.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who is running last among the remaining three GOP candidates, would actually do best against Sanders, the poll finds. Front-runner Donald Trump fares worst against Sanders:
- John Kasich 43 percent, Bernie Sanders 47 percent
- Ted Cruz 39 percent, Bernie Sanders 51 percent
- Donald Trump 38 percent, Bernie Sanders 53 percent
And in a hypothetical GOP/Clinton matchup, only Kasich beats her.
- Kasich 49, Clinton 40
- Cruz 44, Clinton 45
- Trump 41, Clinton 48
The poll was conducted April 11-13 speaking to 1,021 registered voters. It has a margin of error of plus-or-minus 3 percent.
