The House Intelligence Committee had a "good meeting" with Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg on Wednesday, and have agreed that 3,400 ads believed to be linked with Russia will be published, Rep. Adam Schiff, the ranking member on the committee.

"We want the American people to see these ads and see how cynical they are, how the Russians meant to turn Americans against Americans and divide us," the California Democrat told MSNBC's "Morning Joe" program.

Facebook will help to "scrub" the ads, in the event there are people pictured who did not know that their images were used by the Russians on them, said Schiff.

Schiff said he also would like to see ads that ran on Twitter, which were "focused much more on attacking Hillary Clinton," be published as well, but he does not have high hopes of persuading President Donald Trump about Russia's involvement in the election.

"He's in complete denial about the Russian involvement in the election, but the American people need to see it," said Schiff.

Schiff said much of the conversation with Sandberg concerned how long it took Facebook to determine what was happening, and what steps the company is using to ferret such ads out in the future.

"They would like help from the intelligence community," said Schiff. "When the intelligence community identifies bad actors using its platform, [Facebook] will help them to get that information and take those pages down. But they also have to develop their own internal capacity to ferret out foreign interference. They're working on doing that."

Schiff also discussed the the revelations that some officials at the White House, including Trump's daughter Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, had been using private email accounts in their communications.

"We have demanded all the relevant documents pertinent to the investigation, whatever e-mail or platform they're using,' said Schiff. "Obviously we'll look at revelations that there were additional e-mail accounts to see whether we've gotten all the requisite materials, and our discussion with these witnesses hasn't come to an end. We made it clear with Mr. Kushner that if it was necessary to bring him back when we found out additional information or when we got additional document, we would do so."
