Rush Limbaugh celebrated as post-convention polls showed GOP nominee Donald Trump pulling ahead of presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, the first significant bump up following a formal nomination by a major party since 2000.

Trump beats Clinton 44 percent to 39 percent, with Libertarian Gary Johnson and the Green Party's Jill Stein picking up less than 10 percent each. One-on-one Trump still tops Clinton, 48 percent to 45 percent, according to a CNN/ORC poll.

Limbaugh specifically mentions pollster Nate Silver of FiveThirtyEight, who previously had Trump lagging behind Clinton, and now has them in a "dead heat."

"Last week, ladies and gentlemen, Nate Silver — the vaunted Nate Silver, formerly of The New York Times and now of his own website, FiveThirtyEight.com," Limbaugh said on his syndicated program. "This is a guy that the Democrats relied on for comfort. He was their guru during the 2012 presidential campaign. Nate Silver then was analyzing polls. That's what he does. He analyzes polls; then makes percentage predictions based on his unique analysis. Only Nate Silver does what he does! So goes the reputation."

According to Silver's latest "now-cast" estimate, "in an election held today, Trump would be a narrow favorite, with a 57 percent chance of winning the Electoral College."

Democrats aren't ignoring the New York billionaire's bounce in the polls.

"If we let our differences diminish our enthusiasm, if we let our differences be the focus, if we let them focus on our differences and not our differences with Donald Trump and the Republican Party, we will lose," Rep. Michael Capuano, D-Mass., told Massachusetts delegates at the Democratic National Convention on Monday.

"And the truth is, we would deserve to lose. We have no choice but to come together, not just for breakfast, but to get as many votes as we can to win this election for ourselves and for our children," Capuano said, the Boston Herald reported.
