Kentucky Senator and GOP presidential candidate Rand Paul said Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton is a "neo-conservative" who is the most likely to get the United States into another war.
Appearing Sunday on CNN's
"State of the Union," Paul compared the former secretary of state with one of his GOP rivals, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who has been rising in the polls.
"I see her and Rubio as being the same person," Paul said. "They both want a no-fly zone. They both support the war in Libya. The intervention that made us less safe. They support pouring arms into the Syrian civil war, a mistake that I think allowed ISIS [the Islamic State] to grow stronger. They both supported the Iraq War. So, I mean, what's the difference?"
A neo-conservative, according to Paul, is someone who sees government as having a big role not only in domestic, but also foreign policy.
"Libya is a failed state," he said. "A third of Libya pledges allegiance to ISIS. I fault Hillary Clinton and President [Barack] Obama and the neo-conservatives within my party like Rubio who have been eager for war in Libya and Syria and Iraq."
