Former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush have found popularity with President Donald Trump in office, according to a new Gallup poll released Monday.

Sixty-nine percent of Americans view Obama favorably, while 59 percent view Bush favorably. Bush's rating rose seven percentage points since last year and 24 percentage points since March 2009, when the poll was first conducted after his term finished as president.

Young adults still do not see Bush favorably, with just 42 percent approving of him. But support from political independents and Democrats has risen significantly, with independents double the initial rating at 56 percent and Democrats four times at 41 percent.

Republicans still see him in an overwhelmingly positive light at 82 percent.

Obama's rating post-presidency improved since he was in office by about nine percentage points. His favorable rating was 54 percent last August, according to Gallup.

"Unlike Bush, who still fails to win majority approval from young adults, Obama is viewed favorably by all major demographic groups, including men, women, whites, nonwhites, and all age categories," Gallup's Lydia Saad wrote.

The Gallup poll was conducted June 7-11, using a sample of 1,009 adults and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
