Democrat Jon Ossoff has a 7-point lead over Republican Karen Handel in the runoff race to see who will represent George's 6th District in the House, a new poll by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution revealed.
Here are the poll highlights:
- 51 percent of those surveyed favor Ossoff, compared to 44 percent who back Handel in the June 20 election.
- 60 percent of women support Ossoff, compared to 34 percent who favor Handel.
- 52 percent of men support Handel, while 41 back Ossoff.
- 13 percent of Republicans back Ossoff, while only 3 percent of Democrats support Handel.
The newspaper noted about 5 percent of voters are still undecided, while the margin of error in the poll is 4 percentage points.
It is the first poll released since the two candidates debated earlier this week, according to The Hill.
The nationally watched race will fill the seat vacated by Republican Tom Price, who was appointed Health and Human Services Secretary, the website reported.
