President Donald Trump's approval rating stands at 35 percent — a near record low — while 58 percent disapprove of his job performance, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday.

It is Trump's lowest rating in the poll since Aug. 2, when he received a 33 percent approval mark. His approval rating was at 38 percent in an October poll by Quinnipiac.

Here are the survey highlights:

  • 80 percent of Republicans approve of the way he's handling his job, while 11 percent disapprove.
  • 5 percent of Democrats approve of Trump's job performance, compared to 91 percent who disapprove.
  • 31 percent of independents approve of the way he's handling his job, while 63 percent disapprove.
  • 40 percent of all those polled say Trump is fit to be president, while 57 percent say he is not.
  • 51 percent say they would like Democrats to win control of the House in 2018, while 38 percent do not.
  • 52 percent say they want Democrats to win control of the Senate next year, while 29 percent were opposed to the idea.

"President Donald Trump returns from his big Asia trip to find numbers frozen in the negative," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University poll. "Ominously, there is creeping slippage in the base."

Here is how the rest of the poll breaks down:

  • 63 percent of all those polled say Republican Roy Moore should drop out of the U.S. Senate race in Alabama.
  • 58 percent disapprove of the way the media covers the president, while 38 percent approve.

The total poll, conducted Nov. 7-13, surveyed 1,577 voters nationwide. Questions regarding Moore were asked Nov. 10-13. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.
