Former Secretary of State John Kerry reportedly supports President Donald Trump's decision to launch a barrage of missiles at a Syrian air base Thursday night.

Politico cites someone close to Kerry as saying he was "absolutely supportive" of the military action and also "gratified to see that it happened quickly."

The attack, which included five dozen Tomahawk missiles launched from two U.S. warships in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, came days after dozens of Syrian civilians were killed in an apparent chemical weapons attack — which the U.S. believes the Syrian government was behind.

Kerry led the Department of State from 2013-2017. Politico reported that he "believes if executed correctly and clearly, [military action] can help reenergize the diplomatic channel" between the U.S. and Syria.
