President-elect Donald Trump has the approval of at least one Democrat when it comes to his decision to select Sen. Jeff Sessions as attorney general.
Journalist Salena Zito posted an update on her Twitter account Friday afternoon, saying she was interviewing Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia — and he provided public support to Sessions as AG.
Manchin, who began serving in the Senate in 2010 and before that was the governor of West Virginia for five years, has been critical of Democrats who have spoken their minds about Trump.
Last weekend, for example, Manchin called Sen. Harry Reid's attack on Trump and his supporters "an absolute embarrassment."
Before last week's election, there was talk of Manchin actually changing his party affiliation to Republican if the balance of power in the Senate ended up being 50-50. Manchin said he wouldn't do that, and Republicans held onto their majority, 54 seats to 46 seats.
Trump's decision to pick Sessions has been a source of criticism for many Democrats, with some bringing up 30-year-old racism allegations.
