Arizona Republican Sen. Jeff Flake said Monday he still hasn't reached the point where he can back his party's presumptive presidential nominee, Donald Trump.
"He was not my first choice nor my 17th choice," Flake said during an appearance on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."
"He's the nominee, and we'll have to deal with that. I hope that he changes."
"But you're not endorsing him?" host Joe Scarborough asked.
"No," Flake replied. "It's uncomfortable not having endorsed the Republican nominee, I have to say. But I can’t at this point. I hope to be able to support the nominee. I certainly can't right now."
Flake is among many in the GOP who have condemned Trump's comments on U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who is overseeing a trial against his Trump University. Trump has said the judge may not be able to treat him fairly because of his Mexican heritage considering Trump's call to build a wall along the Mexican border.
