President Donald Trump will get re-elected in 2020, according to filmmaker Michael Moore, a frequent critic of the president.

"I should say reappointed, because we will have an even larger population that will vote against him in 2020. But he will win those electoral states as it stands now," Moore said in a Fast Company interview published Monday.

"Here's the good news: We don't have to convince a single Trump voter to vote differently because we already have the majority," Moore said, noting Hillary Clinton's win of the popular vote. He told Fast Company that he plans to use his one-man show, "The Terms of My Surrender," as a way to encourage activism to take on Trump.

If Democrats want to win 2020, they should push for the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, a workaround of the electoral college that 10 states and the District of Columbia have adopted. In the agreement, states say that their electoral votes will go to the winner of the popular vote.

The agreement represents 165 electoral votes, and would only take effect if states with a total of 270 electoral votes agree to the deal, Fast Company's report said.

Eight million voters who chose Barack Obama went with Trump in the 2016 election, Moore said, but "we just need to convince a few of them . . . can we do that? I think we can do that."

Trump voters are seeing the effect of their vote now.

"They've seen how dangerous it is to have him as president of the United States. So I think we can bring enough people back," he said.

Moore held out some hope for those opposed to Trump. He said the U.S.'s younger voters have not been raised to discriminate.

"Every year 3 million 18-year-olds become adults and (potential) voters, and we raised those kids. We've raised a generation of kids who don't hate people on the basis of race, or they don't hate somebody because they're in love with somebody of the same gender," Moore said in the interview.

The "angry white guy" will soon no longer be the majority of the population, Moore noted. "Nearly 70 percent of the country is either female, people of color, or young adults between 18 and 35, or a combination of the three. The angry white guy is dying out, and the Census Bureau has already told us that by 2050, white people are going to be in the minority, and I'm not sad to say I can't wait for that day to happen," Moore said.

"I hope I live long enough to see it, because it will be a better country," he added.

Democrats need to take action in 2018 to prevent a Trump win, and they need better candidates in the midterms to do so, Moore said in July.
