Just a week after reports that presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s campaign had an unprecedented money deficit to his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, the real estate mogul sent out an email to supporters that states he is working to shatter records by raising an additional $10 million by midnight this Thursday, which is the end of the month,
The Hill reports.
This after the Trump campaign said it had already raised $11 million in just the past few days.
In the email, Trump's son Eric announced the "most ambitious fundraising campaign yet," explaining that "we set another Trump-sized goal" to counter the lies of the Clinton campaign that Trump had not actually raised recently the $11 million.
Last week
CNN reported that Trump’s campaign had entered this month with only $1.3 million, compared with $42 million that the Clinton campaign had in the bank, in addition to her super PAC Priorities USA with $52 million.
The report called the money deficit unprecedented in modern presidential politics, which has been one of the concerns stated by numerous Republicans about the supposed unpreparedness of the Trump campaign to launch a presidential bid.
