Following a tweeted call Sunday for President Donald Trump "to keep his promise to Dreamers and #defendDACA," Senate Minority Whip, Dick Durbin, D-Ill., chided the "crisis" as a "humanitarian and economic disaster" and "manufactured by Republicans."
Durbin's tweetstorm claimed Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) "protects 800,000 young immigrants who are American in every way except their immigration status."
The Dream Act "provides temporary legal status if immigrant students register, pay a fee and pass background checks," Durbin continued.
Durbin then warned Republicans about ending DACA this way would show a lack of "heart" for Dreamers, and "it will be a humanitarian and economic disaster."
Before concluding his tweetstorm with a call for bipartisan DACA reform work with Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., Durbin tweeted the GOP and President Trump have an obligation to solve the DACA "crisis"
