Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina says she wouldn’t waste time talking to Russian President Vladimir Putin but would take definitive action if she is elected.
"Anyone who's spent any time with him could figure out that the 'reset button' isn't going to work," Fiorina said Thursday on Fox News Channel's
"Hannity."
"I wouldn't speak to Vladimir Putin. I would act instead, and do four things immediately," she said. "Rebuilding the Sixth Fleet, rebuilding the missile defense program, I would begin conducting very aggressive military exercises in the Baltic states and I would arm the Ukrainians."
Further, she said, would allow the United States to become the "energy powerhouse of the 21st century," which would cut the leverage of "bad actors" such as Putin.
Turning to China, Fiorina said the United States refuses to use the most important leverage it has: economic growth.
"The Chinese have made a deal with their people … we will grow this economy and lift millions of you out of poverty and in return, you will accept a repressive totalitarian regime, corruption, lack of safety standards, pollution, all the rest. They have to grow their economy," she said. "We are their largest market. Our companies provide them with a lot of what they need to grow that economy."
She gave quick answers on some of her competitors and the current president:
Rand Paul: "Outside the mainstream."
Marco Rubio: "He would make a great veep."
Jeb Bush: "A very good man. … It is difficult for people to think about a Bush III."
Scott Walker: "Guy with a lot of grit … and a lot of heart."
Ted Cruz: "A very smart man … and I think that being president requires unifying the country."
Rick Perry: "Good friend of mine."
Barack Obama: "I think he loves this country, but, honestly, I think his ideology is so foreign to what I believe this country is about."
Hillary Clinton: "I think her ambition to be president far outweighs her ability to be an effective leader."
