House Speaker Paul Ryan toured the United States' border with Mexico on Wednesday and promised afterward to "get this done" in regard to border security.

Ryan and three Republican members of the House from states on America's southern border took an aerial tour of the Rio Grande Valley, followed by a tour by boat.

"When you see with your own eyes the many challenges facing our law enforcement professionals along the border, it gives you even greater respect for the work that they do day-in and day-out," Ryan said in a statement.

"But more tools and more support are needed for them to do their jobs effectively. Congress is committed to securing the border and enforcing our laws, and together with the Trump administration, we will get this done."

Ryan posted a photo on Twitter taken during the helicopter tour:

Joining Ryan in Texas were Reps. Michael McCaul and John Carter of Texas and Martha McSally of Arizona. McCaul chairs the House Committee on Homeland Security, Carter chairs the Homeland Security Subcommittee, and McSally chairs the Border and Maritime Security Subcommittee.

Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly, meanwhile, said Wednesday that President Donald Trump would like to see deportees sent to their country of origin "as fast as possible."
