President-elect Donald Trump will do the right thing about climate change, according to actor Leonardo DiCaprio.
The actor made the assertion to patrons in the restaurant Rao's after meeting with the president-elect last week, Page Six reported.
DiCaprio, who started the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation in 1998 to protect ecosystems that have been endangered by climate change, met with the billionaire Republican last Wednesday to talk about the subject.
The Academy Award-winning actor also gave a copy of the documentary "Before the Flood," which he co-produced, to Trump’s daughter Ivanka, The Independent reports. According to Politico, Ivanka Trump is looking to make climate change a signature issue.
Trump recently met with former Vice President Al Gore as well, who called the meeting "lengthy and very productive."
"It was a sincere search for areas of common ground,” Gore told reporters after the meeting, according to CNN. “I had a meeting beforehand with Ivanka Trump. The bulk of the time was with the President-elect, Donald Trump. I found it an extremely interesting conversation, and to be continued, and I'm just going to leave it at that."
Trump's transition team spokesman Jason Miller told reporters that morning that Gore's meeting wasn't scheduled, Talking Points Memo reported.
