Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe endorsed Florida Sen. Marco Rubio for the Republican presidential nomination on Saturday, The Oklahoman reports.
Calling Rubio "a solid conservative," Inhofe added, "Marco and I have shared, similar values, such as working for a smaller federal government and putting an end to wasteful spending. At the same time, we both recognize the need for the United States to be a global leader and that it requires a well-supported, world-class military that can safely and effectively answer when called upon."
Inhofe backed Rubio's criticism of President Barack Obama's Middle East policy, including against the Islamic State (ISIS), and expressed support for his positions on overhauling Veterans Affairs, repealing Obamacare, cutting federal involvement in public education and cutting environmental regulations.
Inhofe supported former Texas Gov. Rick Perry in 2012.
He becomes the fourth sitting senator to back Rubio, Politico reports.
