Democratic lawmakers boycotting the inauguration of Donald Trump should be "ashamed" of themselves and are merely "doubling down" on the failed policies of their party, says David Horowitz, author of the just-released bestseller, "Big Agenda: President Trump's Plan to Save America."
"This party is walking off the cliff. Instead of adjusting, they're doubling down. … Boycotting this is disgraceful and delegitimizing them," Horowitz said Friday on Fox Business Network's "Varney & Co."
"The biggest weapon Democrats had was calling Republicans racist. Donald Trump has already come out with $130 billion scholarship program for inner city kids. He's already announced he's going to have a new deal for black America.
"He's going to make the streets safer in the inner city and make it possible for businesses to move into the inner city and there would be jobs. He will destroy the base of the Democrat party that way."
Horowitz — a card-carrying liberal turned staunch conservative and founder of The David Horowitz Freedom Center — said the 68 no-show Democrats have to be "ashamed."
"I just would have said, you know what? Personal animosity, talking points, all the other stuff, let's throw it out the window because this is a time to try to unite the country and I'm actually fighting against the United States of America … and that's not what we like anyone to do."
"Big Agenda: President Trump's Plan to Save America," published by Humanix Books, presents a White House battle plan to "halt the Democrats' march to extinguish the values America holds dear."
The plan includes the restoration of Guantanamo, resumption of the Keystone XL pipeline project and end of amnesty for illegal immigrants. It also calls for "surprising" appointments to Supreme Court and federal judiciary and changes to the Affordable Care Act and EPA.
