GOP Congressman James Sensenbrenner introduced a bill Wednesday that proposes using money seized from drug cartels to pay for the border wall — The BUILD WALL act.

Its full name: Build Up Illegal Line Defenses With Assets Lawfully Lifted.

"If we do nothing, we put the people of this nation at risk, as well as allow illegal immigrants to take away jobs, opportunities, and social funding from U.S. citizens — all at the expense of the American taxpayer," Sensenbrenner said in a statement.

"The BUILD WALL Act is a creative solution to a complex problem."

The Justice Department seized $1.7 billion in 2016, though all seized monies are currently earmarked for law enforcement, The Washington Times reported.

Sensenbrenner's bill calls for an uptick in forfeitures and proposes using half of the monies for the wall and other physical and technological deterrents.

Mexico has said it's all for making the cartels pay, welcoming the idea when it was first broached by President Donald Trump's chief of staff, Reince Priebus.

"It's a signal that — at least that's how I interpret it — must be welcomed because we are already seeing how the discussion is changing," the Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray said.
