More than a third of registered voters favor the current GOP plan to repeal and replace Obamacare, but more than half are skeptical, a new Fox News poll shows.

The survey, released Wednesday found 34 percent favor the Republican plan, while 54 percent oppose it; among those who are unfavorable, two-thirds do not like it because it makes too many changes to Obamacare, while 1-in-5 say it does not change the law enough.

The poll also showed 69 percent of Republicans favor the plan, but 15 percent are against it, with 16 percent unsure. A large majority, 86 percent, of Democrats oppose the GOP replacement plan, the poll found.

"It's not surprising voters are skeptical about the plan to repeal and replace Obamacare," Republican pollster Daron Shaw, who conducted the survey with Chris Anderson, D-Tenn., told Fox News.

"They are generally happy with their health insurance and are spooked by the possibility for another drastic change. Remember that voters were similarly opposed to Obamacare when Democrats in Congress passed it back in 2010."

In other findings, the survey showed:

  • 50 percent have a favorable opinion of Obamacare.
  • 49-46 percent believe Obamacare will collapse if lawmakers do nothing about it.
  • 35 percent of voters approve and 55 percent disapprove of the way President Donald Trump on his handling of healthcare.

The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points for all registered voters.
