Ted Nugent Blasts Michigan GOP: 'Kid Rock Ain't Running for Squat'

J.D. Hayworth on Newsmax TV

Legendary rocker Ted Nugent on Monday blasted the "goofball" in the Michigan Republican Party who started the rumor Kid Rock was going to run for the U.S. Senate.

"Somebody write this down — Kid Rock ain't running for squat," Nugent told J.D. Hayworth on Newsmax TV.

Nugent put to rest any notion Bob Ritchie — a.k.a Kid Rock — was going to run against Sen. Debbie Stabenow, the Democrat up for re-election in 2018.

"My friend Bob Ritchie never thought, never hinted, never mentioned, never gave any consideration whatsoever to running for public office," Nugent told Hayworth. "Some goofball in the Michigan GOP just pulled it out of their ass and said, 'What about Kid Rock?'"

Ritchie "would make a much-improved representative in Michigan and elsewhere . . . but that the GOP and the media continue to milk this nonsense is one of the most embarrassing chapters for the Republican party," Nugent said.

"They should probably stop and focus their resources on someone who can beat the Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein, Nancy Pelosi-wannabe, Debbie Stabenow," Nugent said. "She's bad for Michigan, she's bad for America, and the Republican party better get somebody in there who can be a status-quo crusher like Donald Trump."

Nugent also took umbrage with the notion Michigan, where he was born, is traditionally a blue state.

"There's no blue states in the nation; there's only high-crime, Democrat-run, blue smudges," Nugent told Hayworth.

"Every state is a red state. The red states make this country tick. They make this country great. They're not blue states; they're red states with a bunch of manipulative high-crime blue Democrat smudges that we've got to fix ASAP."

Hayworth asked Nugent if he would consider a run at the Senate, something the owner of four platinum records in the U.S. said he has considered.

"I've given it thought over the years because I love this country," Nugent said. "I've traveled all over the world, and I've gotta tell ya, the whole world sucks, but America still sucks less. And we're on the road to de-sucking because of the great turn of events" that put President Donald Trump in the White House.

"At this time I have no plans to run for public office," said Nugent, who added he would not say no if he were called by the people of Michigan or Texas, where he currently resides.
