A look at the raw statistics shows mass shootings have "zoomed" during the presidency of Barack Obama, Rutherford Institute President John Whitehead tells
Newsmax TV.
"Looking at the statistics — I'm surprised no one is talking about this — but [compared with] the [preceding] four presidents, the attacks, the masses of shootings under Barack Obama, have zoomed," the head of the conservative legal organization told guest host Dennis Michael Lynch on "The Hard Line" Friday.

"Just to give you an example, under Ronald Reagan there were 11 mass shootings in America … under George W. Bush, 23," he continued. "Listen to this, in the seven years Barack Obama has been president, 162.
"It just shoots up the chart. So something's going on. We're dealing with a very bumbling administration … our intelligence obviously isn't working."
Whitehead says that for whatever reason those charged with protecting America have simply not been able to do their jobs under Obama.
"I've talked to former NSA agents who say by their surveillance tactics they're using now, they're watching everybody," he said. "And they do watch everybody by the way. They're using the FBI to do their domestic snooping on us.
"They have trouble following up on leads. You had a woman [in the San Bernardino shootings] who was given a green card after she was vetted by the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security. You have the TSA doing studies where [terrorists] were sneaking agents through 96 percent of the time, weapons and bombs, and they didn't catch them.
Whitehead feels local control is the solution to the problem of coping with a rising terror threat coupled with continuing incompetence in the White House.
"One thing I'm seeing is we're going to have to keep our eyes peeled, we're going to have to get back to community control, we're going to have to get back to watching those in our communities and making sure our communities come together because we're a splintered nation and all these mass shootings are going on and they're going to continue," he says.
Such efforts must occur, Whitehead asserts, because the bottom line is that "again, we're dealing with a bumbling government, a horrible bumbling government."
