Rep. Mike Pompeo: Facts Will Dismiss San Bernardino Workplace Violence Claim

The "liberal narrative" that the San Bernardino shootings might be workplace violence "without any facts in hand" will soon be dismissed as investigators determine that the incident "clearly points towards something connected to Islamic terrorism," Rep. Mike Pompeo told Newsmax TV on Thursday.

"They are going to fight it until every last fact is known and they can't possibly stand it anymore," the Kansas Republican told "The Steve Malzberg Show" in an interview. "There are still things we don't know, we should all just be a little patient, do that.

"But we should also be fearless in recognizing that this threat is all around us — and we've got to do everything in our power to make sure that attacks of this nature never happen here in the United States."

Pompeo, a member of the House Intelligence Committee and the panel investigating the 2012 Benghazi attacks, disputed President Barack Obama's remarks about "lone-wolf" attacks being more likely than coordinate assaults.

The president said Thursday that "it is possible that this was terrorist-related but we don’t know. It is also possible that this was workplace-related."

"As often as he talks about lone wolves, I don't know what a lone wolf is," Pompeo said.

"These folks are always reading, learning, being inspired, being influenced by, operating under the auspices of others who have radicalized them.

"So, we ought to acknowledge these connections, know that they're important. We should resist this temptation that this was just some lone person.

"It is almost never that — and it looks in this instance like there were lots of connections," he told Malzberg. "We need to go flush them all."
