Klayman: Mueller Won't Touch 'Corrupt' Comey in Russia Probe

FBI special counsel Robert Mueller is focusing on President Donald Trump and his associates in the Russia investigation but is failing to look at the "corrupt" former FBI director James Comey, former federal prosecutor Larry Klayman told Newsmax TV.

During an appearance on "Newsmax Now," Klayman was asked about Mueller's Russia probe that's been ongoing for several months as the Department of Justice tries to determine whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia.

Comey "is corrupt 10 ways to Sunday and he's getting a free pass at the current time," said Klayman, the founder of Freedom Watch. "Mueller is looking at President Trump trying to bring him down. He's leaving Comey alone, his friend."

Klayman argued Comey was prepared to close the Hillary Clinton email investigation before the FBI had even interviewed her because he was afraid Clinton would fire him if she had won the presidential election.

"We know, of course, Comey is corrupt in the way he's acted," Klayman told host Bill Tucker. ". . . He had a stake in this matter and he knew that if Mrs. Clinton became president of the United States, and it seemed likely at that time, there could be retribution. He could be fired.

"He was protecting himself and he was putting himself in front of the American people."

Regarding Mueller himself, Klayman said he has been leaking information about his investigation as he probes whether any wrongdoing occurred.

"He's been leaking information like a sieve, which is in violation of rule 6 (e) of the rules of criminal procedure grand jury matters," Klayman said.

Klayman noted Mueller's investigation might reach as high as former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, but he will not touch Trump.

"I think it'll probably reach Flynn for no good cause, but Trump, no, he's the president," Klayman said. "There's an unwritten rule you don't go after the president, but they'll burn everybody else around him."
