"That's really his message to the American people — that the days of kicking the can down the road are over," Bossie told J.D. Hayworth and Miranda Khan on "America's Forum" on

"We're going to have economic and foreign policy problems that take very serious sober thought to try to get America back on the right track — that's what Cruz is going to bring to this campaign," he said.
"I'm very excited to see him get into the race today," he added.
The Texas Republican announced that he plans to run for president in the Republican primary in 2016 in a speech at Liberty University Monday. Cruz is the first candidate to make an official announcement.
Bossie said that he's not sure why Cruz picked today to announce his candidacy, but said that when running for office "you want to get out in front to make people have a clear choice."
"What you need to do is show who you are and define yourself before your opponents can define you," the Citizens United president said.
"That's part of what Ted's thinking today is, 'let me go out there and talk directly to the American people, to the conservative Republican voter base that will be making up most of the primary voters in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and beyond,' " he explained.
"He wants to speak directly to them on his own terms."
According to Bossie, Cruz's decision to announce his candidacy at Liberty University is an "interesting" choice.
"Jerry Falwell's university in Virginia really gets the who's who of the conservative movement to come in there," he said.
"It fits right into what Ted's belief is that the electorate is looking for, and he's speaking directly to the conservative movement and to the religious conservative movement all at the same time," he added. "It's a very smart choice."
