Keep a close eye on Texas Sen. Ted Cruz as a leading contender for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination, says Mark Steyn, a leading conservative commentator from Canada.
"What I like about Cruz is that he doesn't preemptively cede the ground," Steyn said Tuesday on the "Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"When he's asked the question that's framed from a left-wing Democrat media perspective, he doesn't accept the premise of it. He says, 'No, no, no it's this way of looking at it.'
"Whether or not he's the nominee, it should be someone like that who actually does the Thatcher-Reagan thing of not pre-emptively ceding ground, but demanding that people actually move closer to where they are. That's what's very strong about Cruz."

published by Regnery — believes President Barack Obama has alienated both Republicans and Democrats.
"He's not Lyndon Johnson. He's not someone who reaches out … He doesn't even want to work with the Democrats because the Democrats in Congress complain all the time. They can't get him on the phone. He never calls, writes," Steyn said.
"He decides which laws happen to tickle his fancy on any particular day. He repeals the bits of Obamacare that are causing him problems, he dissolves the immigration laws of the U.S. And we'll be seeing a lot more of that."
