Club for Growth President and former Rep. David McIntosh of Indiana tells
Newsmax TV that Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who is the first politician to officially announce his candidacy for president in 2016, stands out as a lawmaker who keeps his promises.
"One of the differences about Ted is he's one of those politicians when he says he's going to do something, he does it," McIntosh told J.D. Hayworth and Miranda Khan on "America's Forum" on Tuesday.

"We saw that in the battle over trying to repeal Obamacare," he explained. "A lot of his colleagues said, 'Yeah, we want to repeal Obamacare, but don't make us take the tough votes to do that.' Ted Cruz stood there and said, 'No, we said we'd repeal it, we're going to do everything we can to repeal it.'"
When Cruz
announced his candidacy from Liberty University on Monday, he said he would work to establish a flat tax and abolish the IRS.
"Imagine a simple flat tax," he said. "Imagine abolishing the IRS."
McIntosh said that he predicts that if Cruz "gets to the White House, his first bill he'll send up there will be a flat tax abolishing the IRS. He said it, and you know he's going to be someone who will fight for it."
The Club for Growth president says that the conservative activist group likes the Texas Republican's "pro-growth economic approach."
"He's taken a really hard line on taxes. He wants to reduce the tax burden, create economic growth, and unleash a lot of the potential in the country," he explained.
"You're going to see him as a very strong contender for president," he said.
"We've got a great array of choices in the Republican Party, and it's cool really to see Ted Cruz out there, out of the box, saying I'm going to be as conservative as president as I have been in the Senate," he added.
