President-elect Donald Trump has invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to meet in the United States, ABC News reports.

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported the invitation earlier on Wednesday, and that Netanyahu called Trump to congratulate him on his victory.

Trump recently released his policy on Israel, which questioned a two-state solution and pushed for the U.S. to surpass its memorandum of understanding, or MOU, with the nation.

"Further, Congress will not be limited to give support greater than that provided by the MOU if it chooses to do so. Israel and the United States benefit tremendously from what each country brings to the table  —  the relationship is a two way street," the policy read, according to The Hill.

Netanyahu released a video with a message for Trump on Twitter, saying "President-elect Trump is a true friend of the State of Israel, I look forward to working with him to advance security, stability and peace in our region."

"I am confident that President-elect Trump and I will continue to strengthen the unique alliance between our two countries and bring it to ever greater heights," he added.
