Hamza bin Laden, the son of the late al-Qaida leader, reportedly released a statement that calls for Muslims to "free Jerusalem."
According to intelligence
cited by The Statesman, the younger bin Laden recorded the statement roughly five months ago.
"Jerusalem is a bride whose blood is our dowry," bin Laden reportedly said in a message posted online.
"The fight to free Jerusalem is a battle between faith and unbelief that requires the unity of the Ummah [the Muslim community].
"The liberation of Palestinian land has been brought much closer by the Syrian revolution."
Bin Laden is thought to be either 23 or 24 years old and is believed to be a potential future leader of al-Qaida.
Ayman al-Zawahiri, the current al-Qaida leader, released a message over the weekend that urged terrorists in Syria to join forces.
"The matter of unity today is one of life and death," Zawahiri said,
reports The Guardian. "Either you unite to live as Muslims with dignity, or you bicker and separate and so are eaten one by one."
Osama bin Laden is believed to have several wives and as many as two dozen children.
