Three people were arrested in the New Jersey side of the Holland Tunnel Tuesday morning after police found a weapons cache of loaded firearms, knives, and ballistic vests.
According to NBC News, two men and one woman were stopped at 8 a.m. as they were traveling toward New York City because their car had a cracked windshield.
According to Fox 5, Port Authority police eventually searched the car and found the weapons and vests, along with a helmet and what authorities believed to be night vision goggles.
Two sources told the network the people were thought to be "gun enthusiasts" and were not related to any terror group.
CBS News, meanwhile, cited sources saying the case was being eyed as drug-related.
NBC obtained a law enforcement photo of the weapons cache discovered. There appears to be at least two long guns and five handguns, along with several magazines. A row of knives is visible on the right side of the photo.
The men arrested are reportedly in their 50s and the woman is in her 20s.
