MSNBC "Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski Saturday said she will not proceed on a deal for three books with Weinstein Books unless film producer Harvey Weinstein resigns following accusations of sexually harassing women throughout the years.

Weinstein, she said, needs to "face his sickness and go into a long, self-imposed exile," Brzezinski tweeted, while linking to a story in The New York Times about Weinstein's "media enablers":

Brzezinski further tweeted a call for Hollywood producers and actors to quit working with Weinstein:

She also said she couldn't work on her books unless the producer steps down:

In July, Weinstein Books announced plans to publish three of Brzezinski's books, including a revised edition of her bestseller "Knowing Your Value: Women, Money, and Getting What You’re Worth."

The Times this week revealed allegations that Weinstein, a Democratic mega-donor for years, had been spending decades sexually harassing women with whom he works.

After the news broke, Democratic lawmakers, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-NY, rushed to donate contributions they'd gotten from Weinstein over the years to nonprofits advocating for female victims of sexual abuse, reports The Hill.

In addition, the Democratic National Committee said it will give three women's groups the contributions it got in the most recent campaign cycle.

However, notes The Hill, the DNC got $300,000 from Weinstein over the years, but donated just $30,000 from the last campaign cycle to political action groups, not women's groups.

The money is going instead to EMILY’s List, which supports women candidates who back abortion rights; Emerge America, a group that recruits and trains Democratic women to hold office, and Higher Heights, a group that which supports black women seeking political office.

On Friday, a third of the Weinstein Company's all-male board quit because of the allegations, reports The Times, and the others have hired an attorney, while saying Weinstein is taking an indefinite leave of action.
