HBO's Bill Maher Friday night connected Islam to the wave of sexual assaults that took place in Cologne, Germany on New Year's Eve, saying that Americans make the mistake of believing "people around the world who are not like us are going to be like us."
"Women are not equal citizens" under Islam, Maher said on his "Real Time" show, and what are considered a criminal activities in one part of the world are merely "activities" in other parts of the world.
"The idea that when Syrian refugees come to European countries or to America they are going to completely fit in is a fantasy," said Maher.
He denied that he was indicting all Muslims with his statements, but at the same time, he told one of the panel guests, who insisted that it can't prove that any "devout Muslims" were involved in the attacks, that "you don't want to indict any of them."
Maher then went on to say the issue will cost Democrats the election, as the choice to be made is between a "demagogue" like Donald Trump who might keep Americans safe, or people like Hillary Clinton, who like President Barack Obama "won't even say radical Islamic terrorism."
