Thinking about splurging on Apple’s latest creation unveiled on Tuesday after much anticipation? Here are eight of the good, bad and ugly things about the iPhone X.

1. Immersive experience – (This is good) Apple has outdone itself with the new iPhone X, saying it envisioned an iPhone that was “so immersive the device itself disappears into the experience.” The aim was to design a device that could “respond to a tap, your voice, and even a glance,” and it seems Apple has gotten this right.

2. Full-screen display — (Good) The iPhone X front is entirely screen with an all‑new 5.8‑inch OLED screen that encompasses the entire front handset. Wired noted this was the first time Apple made use of OLED tech in an iPhone, which offers a number of benefits including accurate, high brightness and a 1,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio.

3-4. Battery life and charging – (Good) The iPhone X features improved battery life that lasts two hours longer than the iPhone 7, according to Wired. Another perk is the phone can now be conveniently charged on an inductive pad, so it will no longer have to be plugged into the wall to charge.

5. TrueDepth camera – (Good) An intriguing feature of the iPhone X is its “Face ID” function. According to Apple, “your face is now your password.” The camera “projects and analyzes more than 30,000 invisible dots to create a precise depth map of your face.” The iPhone X camera features a larger and faster 12MP sensor with a new color filter, deeper pixels and a new telephoto lens with OIS.

6. Navigation – (Bad) There have been complaints about the iPhone X’s different navigation. Mashable noted the home button was removed and an up swipe now takes you back home, but this is also how you call up Control Centre.

7. No headphone jack – (Bad) The iPhone X doesn’t have a headphone jack and instead uses wireless air pods. Newsweek said it could be tedious remembering to charge your air pods, adding that plain headphones were still the most convenient.

8. The price – (Ugly) There is really only one ugly thing about the iPhone X and that’s the price tag. The new device is Apple’s most expensive iPhone and, according to The Ringer, will start at $999 and go up from there, making it a luxury item many can’t afford.
