The widow of Beau Biden is reportedly "100 percent" behind the vice president if he decides to run in the Democratic presidential primary.
Over the Columbus Day weekend, Hallie Biden promised her full support to father-in-law Joe Biden, her father Ron Olivere tells the News Journal in Delaware.
"He did discuss this with family," Olivere tells the news outlet. "He discussed it with my daughter and her response was, 'Pop, we're behind you all the way. We're behind you 100 percent.'"
Beau Biden died of brain cancer last May 30, and is survived by his wife and their two children; the New York Times has reported
it was his dying wish that his father run for president.
The News Journal reports, however, some local supporters are cautioning against speculation about Biden's decision on whether to make a White House bid.
"You can speculate. You can guess," said Delaware labor leader Sam Lathem. "But believe me, nobody knows but Joe."
But Richard "Mouse" Smith, president of the Delaware NAACP, said he's ready in case the decision is "yes."
"We're just waiting for him and we'll be ready," Smith said. "He's played the chess game by putting everybody in place. I really think he's going to do it."
