Dr. Drew Pinsky, the physician and addiction specialist who hosted a popular medical-advice show on a sister network of CNN, has been fired after negatively speculating on Hillary Clinton's health and medical care.
CNN reports Pinsky and the cable network "have mutually agreed" to air the final episode of HLN's "Dr. Drew on Call," which ran for six years, on Sept. 22."
Earlier this month, Pinsky appeared on KABC radio's "McIntyre in the Morning" and revealed he and another doctors had reviewed medical evaluations of Clinton's health that had been released by her campaign.
"Based on the information that she has provided and her doctors have provided, we were gravely concerned not just about her health, but her health care," Pinsky said in a transcript of the show provided by the Washington Free Beacon.
"Both of us concluded that if we were providing the care that she was receiving, we'd be ashamed to show up in a doctor's lounge. We'd be laughed out. She's receiving sort-of 1950-level care by our evaluation."
He said Clinton had been treated for hypothyroidism with Armour Thyroid, a pill derived from porcine thyroid glands, that is "very unconventional" and "sometimes has some weird side effects."
And Pinsky also commented on Clinton's serious fall in 2012 which resulted in a concussion.
"When she hit her head, she had to wear these prism glasses when she came out … That is brain damage, and it's affecting her balance," he said.
The Washington Post reports that earlier this year, Pinsky apologized for referring to Clinton's late return to a debate stage and cited a Breitbart News article that suggested "a flare-up of problems" from a "brain injury" was to blame. Clinton, it turned out, had only taken a bathroom break.
In a statement about the axing of his show, Pinsky said, "It has been a privilege working at HLN." He added he will remain "within the CNN Worldwide family as a contributor."
Trump and his supporters have also questioned Clinton's health in recent weeks. The billionaire real-estate tycoon has said, Clinton is "not strong enough to be president" and "importantly also lacks the mental and physical stamina to take on ISIS, and all of the many adversaries we face."
And former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, a Trump supporter, told Fox News that Clinton was "tired" and "looked sick."
