Donald Trump: 'I Will Take Full Credit' for Romney Dropping Out

By    |   Friday, 30 January 2015 10:11 PM

A week ago, just before and during the Iowa Freedom Summit, real estate mogul Donald Trump was quick to call out two-time presidential candidate Mitt Romney for failing to defeat President Barack Obama, and he was just as quick to give his Twitter followers his "told-you-so" Friday afternoon after Romney announced he was backing out.

Trump started his tweets at 1:59 p.m., not long after Romney made his bombshell announcement that he would not try a third presidential run, because he thought it "best to give other leaders in the party the opportunity to become our next nominee."

In his first tweet, Trump crowed that people would say he was taking credit:

Then one minute later, Trump maintained Romney "did the right thing":

Trump then waited another six minutes to take full credit, tweeting at 2:06 p.m.:

A minute after that, Trump pointed out that he said Romney "choked":

And in his last tweet on the matter, Trump brought in another presumptive front-runner, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and himself:

Trump has mulled a White House bid several times, including considering a run as an independent in 2000 and then hinting in 2008 and 2012, but he has never officially run.

Last week, he said it's too early to say if 2016 will be the year, but he added that he'll make a decision before June.
