A framed photograph of the president that has always hung on the wall in the lobby of every federal building is still missing nine months after Donald Trump's inauguration, The Washington Post reported on Tuesday.

Previous presidents have had their pictures hanging on the wall several months after entering the White House, but federal employees and visitors are puzzled that Trump's photo is still missing, with empty hooks remaining in the walls after workers took down official portraits of President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden when they left office on Jan. 20.

Federal agencies ordered photographs of Trump and Vice President Mike Pence months ago, but the Post reported that the White House says the two have not yet decided when to sit down for their official photographs.

This means that the Government Publishing Office, which prints official portraits, has not yet received the images in order to make the pictures, and agency spokesman Gary Somerset said he does not "have a timeline on when the GPO will receive those files from the White House."

Some in the public have complained that the official pictures are missing from the buildings.

Although many federal offices, as well as embassies abroad, remain without any photo on their walls, some have improvised by downloading the photo of Trump posted on the White House website.

In addition to Trump's picture missing, the images of many Cabinet secretaries also are absent from the federal buildings, in some cases apparently because they do not want to be seen as upstaging the president, the Post reported.
