Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign chairman John Podesta was asked about Russian hacking during a closed-door session with the House Intelligence Committee Tuesday.

According to The Hill, the committee interviewed Podesta as part of its probe into Russia's interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Former President Barack Obama "and the entire administration were dealing with an unprecedented incidence of the weaponization of the fruits of Russian cyber activity and making the best judgments they could on behalf of the American people," Podesta told reporters.

WikiLeaks published thousands of hacked emails from Podesta's account last fall before the election. The messages pertained to the Clinton campaign, Clinton's infamous Wall Street speeches, the Clinton Foundation, and several other topics.

The Senate Intelligence and Judiciary Committees are investigating Russian hacking and whether President Donald Trump's campaign had any improper ties to Russia. The Department of Justice is also conducting a probe.
